Oscar Predictions: November Update

The main thing that’s change since October is that The Martian is now a definite contender. But it seems that for every answer involving the awards race that gets solved, another question comes into light.

Well, let’s take a look at my predictions.

BEST PICTURE

Bridge Of Spies
Carol
The Hateful Eight
Inside Out
Joy
The Martian
The Revenant
Room
Spotlight
Steve Jobs

There are ten nominees now. Got rid of The Danish Girl and added Bridge Of Spies & The Martian. I am feeling more comfortable with Room as my Best Picture winner after seeing this.

BEST DIRECTOR

Lenny Abrahmson – “Room”
Alejandro G. Inarritu – “The Revenant”
Tom McCarthy – “Spotlight”
David O’Russell – “Joy”
Ridley Scott – “The Martian”

Replaced Boyle with Scott.

BEST ACTOR

Matt Damon – “The Martian”
Johnny Depp – “Black Mass”
Leonardo DiCaprio – “The Revenant”
Michael Fassbender – “Steve Jobs”
Eddie Redmayne – “The Danish Girl”

Replaced Rohrig with Damon. I actually think Damon has a chance of winning this thing, but right now i’m going with DiCaprio.

BEST ACTRESS

Cate Blanchett – “Carol”
Brie Larson – “Room”
Jennifer Lawrence – “Joy”
Carey Mulligan – “Suffragette”
Saiorse Ronan – “Brooklyn”

Replaced Tomlin with Mulligan. Best Actress sure is skewing young this year.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

Tom Hardy – “The Revenant”
Michael Keaton – “Spotlight”
Mark Ruffalo – “Spotlight”
Mark Rylance – “Bridge Of Spies”
Jacob Tremblay – “Room”

Replaced Elba with Ruffalo. This category is super tight this year.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

Joan Allen – “Room”
Jennifer Jason Leigh – “The Hateful Eight”
Rooney Mara – “Carol”
Alicia Vikander – “The Danish Girl”
Kate Winslet – “Steve Jobs”

No change. It’s interesting that if both Tremblay and Mara win, then both of our ‘Supporting’ winners will actually be lead players.
