BAFTA Wins!

Well, the BAFTA awards were last night and we were all hoping that everything would become crystal clear. Well, some things did. Others, not so much.

Best Picture: The Revenant

Just to clarify things, Spotlight won BFCA and SAG. The Revenant won the Globe, BAFTA and DGA. The Big Short won PGA. Help!

Best Director: Alejandro G. Iñarritu – The Revenant

This one seems very likely, but there’s a chance George Miller could take it.

Best Actor: Leonardo DiCaprio – The Revenant
Best Actress: Brie Larson – Room

They’re both winning Oscars. Concluded.

Best Supporting Actor: Mark Rylance – Bridge Of Spies
Best Supporting Actress: Kate Winslet – Steve Jobs

Both of these seem like the runner-up in their respective race.

Best Original Screenplay: Spotlight
Best Adapted Screenplay: The Big Short

Unfortunately, both of these seem locked up.

Best Cinematography: The Revenant

Chivo’s winning another one, isn’t he?

Best Film Editing: Mad Max Fury Road
Best Production Design: Mad Max Fury Road
Best Costume Design: Mad Max Fury Road
Best Makeup: Mad Max Fury Road

Well, look’s like Fury Road is walking away with all the technical awards…

Best Sound: The Revenant

…Huh. That goes against my initial predictions. We’ll see what happens.

Best Original Score: The Hateful Eight
Best Animated Feature: Inside Out

My Oscar predictions remain firmly grounded.

Best British Film: Brooklyn

The only one with a Best Picture nomination. Surprising.
