2016 Oscar Predictions: October Update

And the Oscar goes to…

Well, now we’re in the thick of it. All the big movies come out in the last few months of the year, and there are some big changes being made in my predictions.

  • La La Land steps into frontrunner status for apparently being the feel-good movie of the year. And after this presidential election, we can all use some of that.
  • All the sources say that Silence is officially coming out this year, but we’re still waiting on a trailer, or even a poster. I’ve added it to my predictions, but I just hope this film actually comes out.
  • I just saw The Girl On The Train, (review coming soon.) I’m including Blunt in my Best Actress predictions, but as incredible as her performance is, she’s not a sure thing.
  • I’m gonna see 13th soon. It’s apparently hood enough to be a Best Picture nominee. I’ll believe it when I see it.
  • Moonlight and Fences both look like good films, and I’ll bet the Academy is willing to embrace these films to avoid another year of #OscarsSoWhite
