Every year, I look forward to the Gotham nominations. To me, this announcement marks the beginning of Awards Season. This is when I start to tally up every film that has earned at least one mention

For the past three years, the film that Gotham chose as the Best Feature winner went on to win the Best Picture Oscar. That’s an interesting stat that I don’t think will be repeated this year. I’m not currently predicting any of these films to be nominated. I may have to change that.

I haven’t really been following this category, so I don’t know if any of these films receive Oscar nominations.

Daniel Kaluuya – Get Out
Robert Pattinson – Good Time
Adam Sandler – The Meyerowitz Stories
Harry Dean Stanton – Lucky

It’s important to remember that at the Gothams, they don’t separate the acting categories into Lead and Supporting.  I expect Dafoe to take this as his first step on the road to an Oscar. In other news, “Oh hai James Franco!”

I’m not predicting any of these women to get an Oscar nod. It’s tricky to figure out who will win here.

I’m happy to see that The Big Sick is getting some love. Once again, I have no idea if any of these scripts will succeed at the Oscars.

Mary J. Blige – Mudbound

Hard to see how Mary J. Blige is a ‘breakthrough’, but whatever. Also, It’s weird how Mudbound showed up here, but nowhere else.
