Now, anyone who has access to Wikipedia can tell you, 2006 gave us the last Producers Guild winner, Little Miss Sunshine, to NOT go on to win Best Picture. This year, we may have found our next example. Argo took home this years Best Theatrical Motion Picture, despite not being nominated for Best Director at the Oscars. Argo also took home the Golden Globe and Critic’s Choice, which leads many to believe that this film would take home the Oscar as well. I don’t know, I think that if the members of the Academy intended Argo to win, they would have nominated it for Directing. I think that Best Picture is much harder to call this year than it usually is. Seeing as how the award is usually going to a film nominated for directing, writing, and editing. Following that logic, the only films that can win are Life Of Pi, Lincoln, and Silver Linings Playbook.
Animated feature and documentary went to Wreck-It Ralph and Searching For Sugar Man, which both look like frontrunners for their respective categories.
