GOTHAM AWARDS

Here we go, the Gotham Awards. Follow me throughout the night to keep track of my progress

BEST BREAKTHROUGH ACTOR/ACTRESS: Michael B. Jordan, Fruitvale Station

Dang it, I thought Lupita had it in the bag! What does this mean for her chances, and what does it mean for Jordan? Right now, I’m 0/1.

BEST BREAKTHROUGH DIRECTOR: Ryan Coogler, Fruitvale Station

Even though I predicted this, it still feels weird. Fruitvale won both of the awards it was nominated for! Will the film be a serious contender come Oscar season, or is it just a one-hit wonder? My predictions are 1/2.

BEST ACTRESS: Brie Larson, Short Term 12

WHAT THE ****? HOW DID BLANCHETT NOT WIN THIS? MY GOD… “I was not expecting this.” Neither was I. My predictions are 1/3, and true to my word, I jumped.. off my kitchen counter. But it still counts!

BEST ACTOR: Matthew McConaughey, The Dallas Buyers Club

Well, this was the most nail biting category of the night, so it only figures that I would get this one wrong. The question is, does this make McConaughey the Oscar favourite, or is this just the “We’ll give him something before he loses everything else” award? My predictions are 1/4. I hate these awards.

BEST DOCUMENTARY: The Act Of Killing

YES! I GUESSED AN AWARD! 2/5, that’s a hollow victory. Dou think this film could be this year’s Searching For Sugar Man? I’m not sure, but it seems a safe bet for the Oscar.

BEST FEATURE: Inside Llewyn Davis

And i finish with 2/6. I onlu got 1/3 of the winners, but hey! Can you blame me! Why pick Inside Llewyn Davis as Best Picture over 12 Years A Slave? Could this be an omen of things to come? We shall see.
