Golden Globe Nominations!

Here are the first few categories. The rest will be announced later.

Best Original Song

“Big Eyes” from Big Eyes
“Mercy Is” from Noah
“Opportunity” from Annie
“Yellow Flicker Beat” from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1

1/4. The star-loving HFPA didn’t nominate Adam Levine! Dogs and cats living together, mass histeria!

Best Original Score

Birdman
Gone Girl
The Imitation Game
Interstellar
The Theory Of Everything

4/5. Nice. Interestingly, no Unbroken. I wonder if that’s a sign of things to come.

Best Screenplay

Birdman
Boyhood
Gone Girl
The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Imitation Game

4/5. Nice selection.

Best Foreign Language Film

Force Majeure
Gett
Ida
Leviathan
Tangerines

Didn’t predict these, but interesting all the same.

Best Animated Feature

Big Hero 6
The Boxtrolls
The Book Of Life
How To Train Your Dragon 2
The Lego Movie

5/5! I trust that I’m included in “Everything Is Awesome.”

Okay, I’m doing pretty good so far.

Here come the rest!

BEST DIRECTOR

Wes Anderson, The Grand Budapest Hotel
Ava DuVernay, Selma
David Fincher, Gone Girl
Alejandro G Iñårritu, Birdman
Richard Linklater, Boyhood

4/5. Wow, shocking lack of love for Unbroken.

Best Supporting Actress

Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
Jessica Chastain, A Most Violent Year
Keira Knightley, The Imitation Game
Emma Stone, Birdman
Meryl Streep, Into The Woods

5/5. No real surprise here. This will probably be the Oscar’s five.

Best Supporting Actor

Robert Duvall, The Judge
Ethan Hawke, Boyhood
Edward Norton, Birdman
Mark Rufallo, Foxcatcher
J.K. Simmons, Whiplash

4/5. As will this category. Looks like Duvall is finding his way into a weak Oscar category.

Best Actress (Musical/Comedy)

Amy Adams, Big Eyes
Emily Blunt, Into The Woods
Helen Mirren, The Hundred-Foot Journey
Julianne Moore, Maps To The Stars
Quvénzhane Wallis, Annie.

3/5. First of all, no love for Begin Again. That’s just wrong. Second of all. Jolie’s Maleficent snub. Between this and Unbroken, you have to wonder what Jolie did to someone at the HFPA.

Best Actress (Drama)

Jennifer Aniston, Cake
Felicity Jones, The Theory Of Everything
Julianne Moore, Still Alice
Rosamond Pike, Gone Girl
Reese Witherspoon, Wild

5/5. This could possibility be your Oscar category, but don’t count out Adams just yet.

Best Actor (Musical/Comedy)

Ralph Fiennes, The Grand Budapest Hotel
Michael Keaton, Birdman
Bill Murray, St. Vincent
Joaquin Phoenix, Inherent Vice
Christolph Waltz, Big Eyes

4/5. Go Bill Murray! And go Big Eyes!

Best Actor (Drama)

Steve Carell, Foxcatcher
Benedict Cumberbatch, The Imitation Game
Jake Gyllenhaal, Nightcrawler
David Oyelowo, Selma
Eddie Redmayne, The Theory Of Everything

4/5. Could we be looking at an Oscar nomination for Jake Gyllenhaal?

Best Motion Picture (Musical/Comedy)

Birdman
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Into The Woods
Pride
St. Vincent

3/5. Wow, Pride came out of nowhere. Glad to see St. Vincent getting some love.

Best Motion Picture (Drama)

Boyhood
Foxcatcher
The Imitation Game
Selma
Theory Of Everything

2/5. Yeah, I got this very wrong. So Interstellar only gets one nomination, for Score. And Gone Girl gets two. (Correction; four.) What does this mean for their Oscar chances?

Let’s see. I got 48/70, or about 68%. I think I did pretty good.
