Last year, all of the Best Picture nominees came from the second half of the year, despite the fact that 60% of my personal Best Picture lineup came from the first half. Now, I’ve already seen ten movies from this year so far. (Review of The Beguiled coming up shortly.) And while a lot of good films have come out, I’m not so sure how these films will fare come Oscar time.

So, let me ask the question; if the Oscar nominations were announced today, what films would be nominated?

Just to be clear, these are not my updated Oscar predictions. Those are coming on Sunday.  No, this is just an Oscar lineup made exclusively from films released in the January-June period. If nothing else, this should give you an idea of what films you can see right now that just might be contending for an Oscar six months from now.
