Oscar Predictions: July Update

So what trailers came out this month? Diana looks about as cliche as a biopic can get, but I’ll have to see the film in order to judge Naomi Watts. The Wolf Of Wall Street looks like we could get a repeat of The Aviator, but what I want to know is if Hill could have a shot with Supporting Actor. His acting in Moneyball was bland, but he most likely earned a nomination because the academy thought this would be his only time doing drama. Then there’s Frozen. Well, this is NOT what I was hoping to see at all. I thought the animation would look more like the Paperman short, this looks cheap and unfunny. I was promised a big, Beauty And The Beast style story with great characters and animation, not THIS! The second trailer looks a bit more promising, but I can’t understand it. At this point, the best we can hope for is a film along the lines of Tangled. Likewise, I’m removing it from Picture and Screenplay as of now.

I have removed Johnny Depp from Supporting Actor due to the critical reception of The Lone Ranger. If any of you have seen the film and want to campaign for Depp, let me know. Not so sure if I should see the film, though. But I still have an out-of-the-box prediction: I’m predicting Carrie will bring Chloe Moretz her first career nomination, as well as one for makeup.
