SAG Results

Okay, let’s quickly talk about the SAG Awards.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: J. K. Simmons, Whiplash
BEST ACTRESS: Julianne Moore, Still Alice

Okay, we all saw these three coming. It’s a shame we never got to see a televised speech by any of the also-rans, particularly Rosamond Pike. But, these three winners are pretty much locked up. Also, somebody tell Patricia Arquette that she needs to have her speech memorized by Oscar night.

BEST ACTOR: Eddie Redmayne, The Theory Of Everything

This is where things get complicated. I was literally pegged to write a ‘Let’sPredict’ that would have declared Keaton the easy winner in this category. But I decided to wait for the SAG awards just to clarify that he was indeed the frontrunner. And if this is any indication. He’s not. Eddie Redmayne is now certain to win the BAFTA, and yet Birdman has more Best Picture heat. Best Actor may wind up being one of this year’s most nail-biting categories.

BEST ENSEMBLE: Birdman

I’m gonna have to wait until BAFTA and DGA weigh in their opinions before I jump to any conclusions. That said, I really, really want Birdman to be our Best Picture winner.
