So the twenty films that started off the VFX shortlist has been narrowed down to ten.
I don’t think anybody is complaining too hard about the ten films that missed the cut. Maybe “In The Heart Of The Sea” or “Spectre” turned a few heads, but there are no shocking omissions at this stage.
Here are the ten shortlisted films.
“Ant-Man”
“The Avengers: Age Of Ultron”
“Ex Machina”
“Jurassic World”
“Mad Max: Fury Road”
“The Martian”
“The Revenant”
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”
“Tomorrowland”
“The Walk”
As of right now, I think the nominees will be:
“Ex Machina”
“Mad Max: Fury Road”
“The Martian”
“The Revenant”
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”
(alt. Jurassic World.)
Three Best Picture nominees in the VFX race? If there’s ever a year for it to happen, it could be this year. I already think Ex Machina id gonna get some love in a few categories, including Visual Effects, Original Screenplay and possibly a sound nomination or two.
have u seen star wars yet? does that make any changes in ur predictions Connor?
Im a little worried about the theaters being too crowded.
Still worth it! 😉
I almost want to predict Vikander to get a nom for Ex Machina over The Danish Girl at this point.
Interesting bit of trivia: If Vikander gets on for Ex Machina, it’ll be only the second time in Oscar history that someone is nominated for playing a non-human. The first was Jeff Bridges in the 1984 film Starman.
