2016 Oscar Predictions: September Update

PREDICTION: One of these four films will win the Oscar for Best Picture.

Sorry I’m a little late on this one. But WOW, what a difference a month can make.

For a long time, Birth Of A Nation looked unstoppable. Then the Nate Parker scandal happened. The film has become associated with all this controversy, to the point where even if Parker is found innocent, it is unlikely that a majority of people will want to see the film, much less vote for it. As such, I have removed the film from my predictions.

Then there’s the issue with Silence and The Masterpiece. Two movies Silence is one of the most anticipated movies that’s left to come out in the year, while The Masterpiece is a movie that nobody has any faith in except me. But with less than four months left to go in the year, we know hardly anything about either one of these movies. No posters, trailers, or release dates.

Meanwhile, according to RottenTomatoes, Zootopia is still the best reviewed movie of the year. It’s timely, it’s important, and everybody seems to like it… so why am I the only one who’s predicting it to be a Best Picture Nominee?
