So, I think we can all agree that these were the craziest Oscars in a very long time.

But before we get to the big shocker of the night, let’s take a look at some of the other shocking moments that happened.

Best Costume Design went to Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Seriously, did anyone see that coming? No Harry Potter movie has ever won an Oscar and then the Harry Potter spin-off comes out of nowhere and wins? Come on, it’s not like Coleen Atwood really needed a fourth Oscar.

Then Best Makeup & Hairstyling went to Suicide Squad. I would like to call attention to the fact that no film from the MCU has ever won an Oscar. But now the DCEU has an Oscar. Let that sink in.

Then Arrival won Sound Editing. I had a sneaking suspicion that the Academy would want to give the film something.

And then Hacksaw Ridge won Sound Mixing and Film Editing, two awards that we thought La La Land had in the bag. But at least Kevin O’Connell finally has his Oscar!

But, yeah. Let’s talk about the Best Picture fiasco. For those of you, who turned off the TV after you saw La La Land win, I have some rather shocking news for you…

…As much as I would have liked to see that, it was actually Moonlight that won Best Picture.

I am completely torn. On the one hand, I loved La La Land so much and I’m completely shocked that it lost. But on the other hand, Moonlight is a very progressive winner, and if it makes a difference in the world, then I’m happy.

My final tally in predictions was 14/24. That averages to about 58%. Kind of pathetic, but it’s not my fault that the Oscars were so crazy this year.

So coming up, I’m gonna post my final two reviews, tell you about my favorite films of 2016, before finally getting to the Early 2017 predictions.
